Refill an Existing MetroCard

On Sunday August 20, 2023, new fares took hold.  The MTA eliminated the bonus and thus the calculator below allows you to figure out the amount to pay to have no spare money left on your card.

What this calculator does: It tells you the amount of money you need to pay to get a balance of zero on the card once the fares are used up.

A pay-per-ride is more cost-effective than an unlimited ride card if you ride the NYC subway or bus less than 13 times per week ($33.00 weekly MetroCard) or less than 47 times per month ($127.00 monthly MetroCard).
